MDF Recovery and PAL to unveil fully integrated MDF recycling solution at LIGNA 2025

21st May 2025

PAL stand, Hall 26, Stand D72 – – MDF Recovery (MDFR) and PAL will showcase a fully integrated and energy-efficient MDF recycling solution at LIGNA 2025 that marks a major milestone in their partnership. Since first announcing their collaboration at LIGNA 2023, the two companies have moved from lab testing to a market-ready, turn-key solution that enables efficient MDF waste recycling at scale.

This year, the PAL stand will spotlight the complete recycling process, from shredding and disaggregation – using MDFR’s patented technology – to fibre cleaning and integration into board manufacturing. This unique approach addresses the full lifecycle of MDF waste, offering manufacturers a practical, low energy, low water, and low cost route to reducing waste.

Craig Bartlett, managing director of MDFR, commented: “With PAL as a partner, we’ve been able to accelerate our approach to the market – having the expertise to offer a turn-key solution is very exciting because it means we can save time and money for potential customers through our integrated approach.

“At MDFR, we’ve developed a depth of expertise and knowledge over many years – the ability to produce high-quality fibres while consuming less energy is a key advantage of our process.

“With this know-how and the capacity of the partnership, we can offer real value for money and present a clear market leader.”

Luca Ballarin, special project manager at PAL, added: “We studied all technology approaches for the recycling of MDF and chose to collaborate with MDFR – it offers a process that is gentle on the fibres and consumes less energy.

“Working with MDF Recovery over the last two years has enabled us to conduct extensive testing in our labs – we have coupled our own knowledge in fibre cleaning and handling to ensure a complete end-to-end solution is available for our customers.

“Combining MDFR’s technology with our expertise in fibre cleaning allows us to offer a fully integrated process for recycling MDF.”

The MDFR and PAL team will be available at LIGNA 2025 to discuss the latest innovations in MDF recycling and how their processes can be easily integrated into existing operations.
